80-Year-Old Driver Injures 13, Including Baby, After Crashing Into Pedestrians in Argentina

An 80-year-old driver struck a group of pedestrians, injuring 13 people, including a baby, after his vehicle mounted a sidewalk in Cerrillos, Argentina, late last Wednesday.

Shocking video footage shows the driver of a blue Renault hitting individuals standing outside shops. Among the injured were nine adults and four children. Several children, including a 5-year-old and an 11-year-old, were hospitalized but have since been released.

Onlookers rushed to assist the victims, with some needing to lift the car to free children who had been trapped underneath. One witness, identified only as Emilio, described the incident as occurring in a busy urban area where vehicles travel at high speeds, calling it potentially tragic.

Argentine officials reported that the driver's breathalyzer test was negative. While the cause of the accident remains under investigation, the witness Emilio suggested the driver may have fainted.
