8-Year-Old Girl Seriously Injured in Wolf Attack at German Zoo
An Arctic wolf enclosure at the Johannismühle Wildlife Park was the scene of a severe incident where a young girl was attacked.
An 8-year-old girl sustained serious injuries after being attacked by at least one wolf within an enclosure at the Johannismühle Wildlife Park, located south of Berlin. The incident occurred on Wednesday during a special event for children.
District officials reported that a zookeeper intervened to prevent further attacks on two other girls who were also present in the Arctic wolf enclosure at the time. The wolves had been provided with water when the attack took place.
The injured girl was transported to a hospital for treatment. The zoo has been closed indefinitely as an investigation into the incident is underway.
This event follows a separate wolf-related incident earlier this year when a wolf bit a woman in a Hamburg shopping area. Authorities believe this was the first such attack in Germany since wolves returned to the country in 1998.
