The Tropical House at a Cambridgeshire zoo has reopened to the public following an incident in which a child was attacked by a crocodile. The boy, visiting the zoo with his family, sustained serious injuries while inside the enclosure, according to police.
He received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. Police confirmed on Monday that the boy's condition had improved, and he was no longer critically ill but was in a stable condition in hospital.
Chris Newman, director of the National Centre for Reptile Welfare, stated that he had spoken with the Johnson family, who were all reportedly very distraught. He identified Tracey Johnson, her husband Andy, and their youngest son as being involved in the rescue, describing them as "heroes" and a "close-knit family" who remain shaken by the event.
