British artist Zoe Buckman, ex-wife of "Friends" star David Schwimmer, announced her engagement to American orthopaedic surgeon Justin Saliman. Buckman, 40, shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday, posting a series of photos from her home country.
Saliman, 52, bears a striking resemblance to Schwimmer, with deep-set brown eyes and a strong jaw. Buckman, who was married to Schwimmer for seven years until 2017, wrote on Instagram, "In a British countryside heatwave my boyfriend became my fiancé. Meeting him was already prayers answered - now I don’t really know what to do with this level of gratitude!"
Buckman also paid tribute to her late mother, Jennie Buckman, who died in 2019 after a battle with breast cancer. "I know my mama is rested and happy knowing, somehow, that her daughter found you," she added.
The couple, who went public with their relationship in May of last year, received congratulatory messages from friends and artists, including Sky Sports presenter Olivia Wayne.
Buckman and Schwimmer, 59, have remained close and continue to co-parent their 15-year-old daughter, Cleo. They were seen marching together at a Black Lives Matter protest in New York in 2020.
Saliman has been previously married, to actress Bree Turner, with whom he shares two children, Stella Jean and Dean. Turner filed for divorce in 2018 after a decade of marriage. Saliman, a Stanford-trained surgeon based at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, also previously dated actress Sofia Vergara, 53. Vergara confirmed their relationship in late 2023, shortly after her divorce from Joe Manganiello, but they reportedly split in early 2025.
Saliman is also an entrepreneur. He founded Ceterix Orthopaedics and invented the NovoStitch Pro Meniscal Repair System, which was acquired by Smith & Nephew in 2019 for a reported $105 million.
Buckman, an acclaimed multidisciplinary artist, is known for her feminist sculptures and installations that explore themes of identity, mortality, and motherhood. Her work has been exhibited at institutions such as the National Portrait Gallery in London and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.
