Zaxby's has introduced two new limited-time menu items: a Peppermint Cookies & Cream Shake and a Honey Chipotle Sauce. The release has ignited discussions among consumers and industry observers, with many pointing to potential direct competition with established fast-food rivals, particularly Chick-fil-A.

The new shake, a hand-spun concoction topped with cookies and cream pieces, has been widely compared to Chick-fil-A's popular seasonal Peppermint Chip Shake. The timing of Zaxby's release has led some to suggest it is a strategic move to capture a share of the holiday beverage market traditionally dominated by Chick-fil-A. Social media platforms and online forums have seen conversations about the alleged imitation, with one Reddit thread initiated by a self-proclaimed Chick-fil-A employee expressing grievances over the Zaxby's shake.

This development occurs as Zaxby's continues to expand its footprint, including a new location on Manhattan's Upper East Side, its second in New York City. The chain also operates over 1,000 locations across 24 states.

The Honey Chipotle Sauce, described by the chain as "equal parts naughty and nice," is made with honey, brown sugar, red chili, and chipotle peppers. Its launch adds a spicy option to Zaxby's menu, potentially appealing to customers seeking bold flavors.

Zaxby's Rewards members gained early access to the new items starting October 26 via the Zaxby's App and third-party delivery services. The general public can purchase the menu items beginning November 2.

Beyond the potential challenge to Chick-fil-A, Zaxby's has also been engaged in a notable rivalry with Raising Cane's, often referred to as the "Chicken Tender War." This competition has been highlighted by various content creators and has even seen Zaxby's strategically place its "Zax Machine" sauce vending machine outside a Raising Cane's location in Manhattan.
