Zaire Wade, the 24-year-old son of NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade, has been charged with a felony stemming from a domestic violence incident in Burbank, California. A criminal complaint filed on Thursday in Los Angeles states Wade faces one felony domestic violence-related charge connected to a June 21 altercation involving someone with whom he was in a dating relationship.
Police responded to a 911 call reporting a woman screaming at approximately 5:30 a.m. on the day of the incident. Upon arrival, officers found Wade and a woman with lacerations to her face and body. Paramedics evaluated the woman at the scene, but she did not require hospitalization.
A spokesperson for the Burbank Police Department confirmed to The California Post on June 26 that Wade was booked for domestic violence, criminal threats, and false imprisonment. Authorities also seized a handgun from the residence and issued an emergency protective order, according to NBC reports.
Wade posted a $50,000 bond and was released from custody later that day. He is the eldest child of Dwyane Wade, a Basketball Hall of Famer known for his three NBA championships, 13 All-Star selections, and 2009 league scoring title. Dwyane Wade has not publicly commented on his son's arrest. Zaire Wade previously played alongside Bronny James during the 2019–2020 high school basketball season at Sierra Canyon School.
