British rapper and social media influencer Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, will face a retrial on three charges of rape in Australia after a jury could not reach a verdict in his initial trial. The 30-year-old also faces a new charge of possessing cannabis.

Barrientos was acquitted of rape in an Australian hotel room after an eight-day trial at the District Court of Western Australia in Perth last month. However, he was found guilty of two charges of assault occasioning bodily harm related to bites on the woman's neck and breast. Jurors were unable to reach verdicts on the three counts of sexual penetration without consent.

Prosecutors confirmed on Thursday that they will proceed with a retrial. A hearing for an application to vary bail conditions is scheduled for August 27, with the case set to be listed for retrial on September 25. Bail was previously set at a personal undertaking of 100,000 Australian dollars (£52,340).

The new charge of possessing a prohibited drug allegedly occurred on May 20, while Barrientos was on bail. He is scheduled to appear at Mandurah Magistrates’ Court near Perth on September 1 for this charge.

During the initial trial, Barrientos denied all charges. Prosecutors alleged that he assaulted a 20-year-old woman, who cannot be named, in his hotel room in September 2024 while he was touring Australia. The court was told the pair met at a nightclub following his performance. Barrientos was arrested several days later in Brisbane.

The prosecution argued that the woman withdrew her consent due to fear for her safety, despite initially agreeing to have sex. The jury had acquitted the rapper of three counts of sexual penetration without consent, an assault charge over an alleged slap, and a choking charge.

Barrientos is known for his appearances on several BBC shows and for his collaborations with the YouTube collective Beta Squad. He has also participated in Soccer Aid and appeared on Channel 4's The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer. He co-hosted the BBC series Hot Property and Munya And Filly Get Chilly with comedian Munya Chawawa.
