YouTubers Win Appeal in Caravan Lawsuit

A legal dispute between Australian van-life YouTubers the Cartwrights and Masterpiece Caravans has been reopened, with the family granted a second chance in court. The case involves a $1.2 million judgment originally awarded to the caravan company.

Married couple Kyla and Jackson Cartwright, who document their travels with their four children to a wide audience of 148,000 YouTube subscribers and 78,000 Instagram followers, purchased a 2023 Optimum CRZR 25' Quad Bunk caravan for $198,550 from Masterpiece Caravans in 2022. They subsequently embarked on an Australia-wide road trip, sharing their experiences online.

In May, the Cartwrights were ordered by a court to pay Masterpiece Caravans $1.2 million, stemming from two videos the company alleged were misleading. The director of Masterpiece Caravans stated in an affidavit that the videos had significantly impacted sales at caravan shows. The legal battle has continued as other customers have come forward with their own complaints about Masterpiece Caravans, allegations that the company disputes.

The Cartwrights' win in securing a second chance in court adds a new layer to the ongoing feud, which has drawn attention from other dissatisfied customers of the caravan manufacturer.
