Next month, comedy YouTubers Dan Howell and Phil Lester are set to embark on a 65-date world tour, performing their podcast "Hard Launch" live across the UK, Singapore, the US, and Australia. The tour, which focuses on their relationship, is reportedly sold out.

However, sources close to the influencers suggest that Howell and Lester may be withholding information from their audience. Insiders claim that Dan Howell has developed a close friendship with a man who will be accompanying them on tour, though he is expected to remain behind the scenes. These sources state they have been aware of this individual's existence for four years and question why he has never been featured in the pair's content.

"It's really bewildering that they don't mention this man in anything they do," one source told Molly Clayton. "They have been planning this massive podcast tour and Dan’s 'friend' is due to go."

In October 2025, Howell, 35, and Lester, 39, confirmed a 16-year romantic relationship in a YouTube video titled "Are Dan and Phil in a Relationship? The Truth." The video, which garnered over four million views, addressed long-standing fan speculation about their relationship. Howell explained that they had previously avoided discussing their private lives to keep the focus on their comedy and due to his "extremely homophobic childhood."

The announcement coincided with the launch of their podcast, "Hard Launch," which quickly rose on the charts. Weeks later, news of their fourth world tour, marketed as a public couple, was released.

Despite the public confirmation, some fans have reportedly questioned the authenticity of the relationship, speculating that it may have been a strategic move to revitalize their brand. This skepticism is fueled by instances where the pair have allegedly referred to each other as "mate" or "friend" despite their public declaration of romance. Sources indicate that the pair earns approximately £20,000 per week from YouTube, with much of their recent content centering on their relationship.

Howell and Lester's collaboration began in 2009 after Howell discovered Lester's YouTube channel. They met later that year and began a series of collaboration videos. They both came out as gay in 2019, around two weeks apart. Their joint YouTube channel, DanAndPhilGAMES, launched in 2014 and quickly achieved significant subscriber growth. Their first live tour in 2015 was a major event for YouTube creators at the time.

Questions persist about the nature of their partnership as they prepare for their latest tour, which heavily emphasizes their romantic narrative. Dan and Phil have been approached for comment.
