A YouTuber known as iamBrandon spent a day delivering food in Beverly Hills, California, earning a total of $346 after receiving substantial tips from some residents. The experiment, documented in a YouTube video, aimed to see how much could be earned in a single day in the wealthy enclave.
Despite a meager 14-cent tip on his first delivery, the earnings quickly increased. One delivery to an opulent building resulted in a $35 tip, and another customer provided a $43 tip for a single bowl of soup. Throughout the day, iamBrandon navigated the area on a secondhand e-bike, encountering luxury vehicles and high-end stores.
The experiment was not without its challenges. iamBrandon simultaneously used DoorDash and Uber Eats to maximize orders, facing steep hills, incorrect routes that extended delivery distances, long waits at restaurants, and issues with his e-bike. At one point, a navigational error turned a two-mile trip into a six-mile ride, causing a 30-minute delay.
There were also periods of inactivity, with iamBrandon reporting waiting over an hour for a delivery request during non-peak times. He concluded his deliveries during the dinner rush as his e-bike battery depleted.
By the end of the day, iamBrandon had earned $143 through DoorDash and $203 through Uber Eats, totaling $346. He reported finding a hotel room for $310 for the night. For his next experiment, he plans to attempt food deliveries in Hidden Hills, another exclusive gated community known for its celebrity residents.
