Accurso, who portrays the character Ms. Rachel, has stated, "I am political," and her off-screen commentary has addressed a range of issues that critics argue are inappropriate for her young audience.

Accurso has become a vocal critic of Israel's actions in Gaza, describing the situation as a "genocide" and promoting narratives that critics have called misleading. Her activism extends beyond this issue, encompassing opposition to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), support for reparations for the descendants of slaves, and criticism of the existence of billionaires. She has also commented on racial justice issues, including the investigation into the death of Nolan Wells and cases of Black individuals found deceased.
