Former Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has launched a new policy organization named Empowering America's Parents. The group will focus on education policy and school choice, a move seen as a way to maintain his presence in the political arena and potentially build momentum for a future presidential run in 2028.

The organization plans to target voters in battleground states who support school choice. A key initiative will be promoting a new national school voucher program, the Education Freedom Tax Credit, which was included in the Republican's 2025 tax reform bill and is scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027.

Youngkin stated that governors in all states should opt into the Education Freedom Tax Credit. "If they blow this opportunity, they’ll be leaving kids behind in their state while children in other states get the benefit," he said in a statement.

Several Democratic governors in crucial swing states have not yet adopted the Education Freedom Tax Credit. This credit offers financial assistance for private schooling and is supported by school choice advocates.

The establishment of Empowering America's Parents provides Youngkin with a platform to travel, engage with voters, and potentially raise funds for future political endeavors. While Youngkin has expressed support for Vice President JD Vance should Vance decide to run for president, he has not definitively ruled out seeking office himself again.
