Police identified an 18-year-old woman as the victim found shot to death in a Boston home owned by Conan Harris, the husband of U.S. Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley. Yoseliani Marte was discovered by officers responding to a call to investigate a person at the property in the Mattapan neighborhood on Saturday afternoon.
Marte's family identified her on Sunday through a GoFundMe campaign established by her mother, Elenie Ocasio. Ocasio stated that her daughter was killed as a result of domestic violence, though further details were not provided. The family described Marte as deeply loved, with a kind spirit and a bright future that will not be forgotten.
The home where Marte was found is an eight-bedroom, four-bath residence that Harris purchased in 2021 for $340,000. The property was listed for $1.15 million last month and is owned by Harris and Pressley, though the couple does not reside there. Their realtor indicated that the property is occupied by tenants, but it has not been confirmed if Marte was one of them. The realtor described the incident as unfortunate.
The Boston Police Department's Homicide Unit is investigating Marte's death. The property was secured with crime scene tape over the weekend.
Financial disclosure statements from the previous year revealed that Pressley and Harris earned significant income from rental properties. The Mattapan home alone reportedly generated up to $100,000 in 2025. Additionally, they collected rent from other Boston properties and a home in Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard, with profits from selling a Florida home also noted.
Pressley, a Democrat, is a member of the House's progressive 'Squad.' A spokesperson for the Congresswoman conveyed her deepest condolences to the impacted family.
