Young Londoners Invited to Name Two Beavers Born in Ealing

Children in London are being invited to help name two young beavers born at Paradise Fields in Ealing. The conservation group Citizen Zoo, which is leading the rewilding project, is seeking suggestions from residents aged four to 18.

"Personally, I'm very excited to see what names the children come up with," said Dr. Sean McCormack, the project's lead.

The new kits were born at Paradise Fields, a site managed by Citizen Zoo in collaboration with Ealing Wildlife Group, Friends of Horsenden Hill, and Ealing Council, with funding from the mayor's office. Elliot Newton, director of rewilding at Citizen Zoo, stated that the birth of the kits demonstrates that beavers can "coexist with people in the heart of urban London."

Backers of the initiative highlight the positive environmental impact of the beavers, noting that they have created new wetland habitats, improved water quality, and enhanced the area's resilience to both flooding and drought.

Paradise Fields is accessible to the public 24 hours a day and free to visit. Name suggestions can be submitted through Citizen Zoo's website until December 7.
