The National Park Service (NPS) is investigating an incident at Yosemite National Park after receiving reports that a 23-year-old male fell over Nevada Fall on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Multiple witnesses on social media reported that the individual may have suffered a fatal fall.

Park dispatch received reports of an individual going over the fall, and NPS rangers and Yosemite Search and Rescue personnel responded. Search and recovery operations were conducted in the area below the fall, according to officials. The incident remains under investigation.

Witnesses on social media described the event, with one Reddit user claiming to have heard screaming and seen a group of friends being pulled by the current near the top of Nevada Fall. The user reported that a female was saved after a bystander offered a branch, but another person with her was carried over the fall. A helicopter and rescue hikers were observed searching the area.

Nevada Fall is known for its steep, slippery conditions, powerful waterfall, and fast-moving currents. The drop is approximately 600 feet. Witnesses noted the danger posed by the slick granite rocks and strong currents, suggesting that a fall from such a height would likely be unsurvivable.
