Yelp's Best New Restaurants of 2026 Include Two NYC Standouts

Yelp has unveiled its Best New Restaurants of 2026 list, highlighting top dining destinations across the country based on extensive review data and local buzz. Two New York City establishments, Limusina and Ambassadors Clubhouse, secured spots within the top 10.

The platform observed that steakhouses and brunch spots emerged as significant dining trends this year, with searches for "steak near me" increasing by 59% over the past year and reaching an all-time high in August 2026. Additionally, Yelp noted a substantial rise in interest in Indian cuisine, with searches for "Indian bowls" up 135% and "Indian food buffet near me" increasing by 459% compared to the previous 12-month period.

Limusina, a Mexican restaurant by Quality Branded, earned the No. 3 position on the list. Located in Hudson Yards, the restaurant, which transformed a former parking garage, was described by Yelpers as "sexy" and "chic," featuring Art-Deco details. The creative director stated the goal was to "transport guests into a new experience." Limusina comes from the group behind popular establishments like Don Angie and Bad Roman. Its Long-Bone Short Rib Quesabirria is a popular dish, and seafood enthusiasts recommend the Red Snapper Tacos. The menu offers creative interpretations of Mexican classics, including truffle machete quesadillas and pork belly chicharrón.

Ambassadors Clubhouse, the other New York City restaurant to be recognized, ranked No. 10. Yelpers have noted the difficulty in securing reservations, deeming the effort worthwhile. This family-owned establishment previously earned a Michelin star in London for its fusion of Northern Indian cuisine inspired by Punjabi royalty. The siblings Jyotin, Karam, and Sunaina Sethi named the restaurant in honor of their grandfather, a former Indian ambassador. Recommended dishes include the Beetroot Raj Kachori Chaat and the Original BBQ Butter Chicken Chops.

Nationwide, the No. 1 spot on Yelp's list was awarded to Filthy Animal in Tempe, Arizona. This jungle-themed restaurant, named after a line from the movie Home Alone, offers an open fire pit concept for seafood and steak. It features animal print decor and dim lighting, creating what users describe as a "sexy" and "moody" ambiance. Reviewers noted a blend of Asian, Mexican, and tropical influences with a focus on primal cooking techniques. The cocktails and tomato butter also received frequent commendations.

Firstborn in Los Angeles, California, secured the No. 2 position. This Chinese-American restaurant, led by chef-owner Anthony Wang, combines Wang's European training with his upbringing for a unique dining experience. The $68 prix-fixe menu includes dishes like caviar blinis and duck sausage. Wang stated his inspiration was "rooted in nostalgia from my upbringing." The Chongqing Fried Chicken is highlighted as a "must-try," alongside sides such as duck fat rice.

Eylan, an Indian family-style restaurant in Menlo Park, California, ranked fourth. It features patterned tiles and a live fire grill, offering Michelin Bib Gourmand selections. The prix-fixe options include family-style sigdi (grilled) dishes. Standouts mentioned by Yelp reviewers are the Taro Root Chaat and the pani puri-style Chilled Green Chaas. A Reddit reviewer described the food as "light and well-balanced" with "great cocktails and energy."

Rounding out the top five is Lilo in Carlsbad, California, a tasting menu experience that earned a Michelin star within two months of opening. Focusing on multi-course seafood dishes sourced from local farms with Japanese influences, Lilo was described by one diner as a "choreographed experimentation with flavors." Guests typically enjoy about a dozen courses prepared at the chef's counter, concluding with tea by a fire pit and a souvenir menu. Notable dishes include N25 Kaluga Caviar served atop orgeat-flavored ice cream, and Santa Barbara Sea Urchin with English pea and rose geranium.
