Yankees' Wells Ends No-Hit Bid, Then Erases Run With Baserunning Blunder

In Game 1 of the ALDS on Saturday, New York Yankees catcher Austin Wells ended pitcher Drew Rasmussen's no-hit bid in the eighth inning but was subsequently thrown out at third base. The Yankees remained hitless until Wells' single down the right-field line with two outs in the eighth inning.

Wells attempted to advance to third base on the hit but was easily tagged out by Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero. The baserunning miscue prevented the Yankees from potentially tying the game, which the Rays led 1-0 at the time. Rasmussen had held the Yankees hitless through eight innings, recording 10 strikeouts and issuing two walks.
