Yankees to Face Red Sox in AL Wild Card Rematch
For the second consecutive year, the New York Yankees will begin the MLB postseason against the Boston Red Sox in an AL Wild Card series.
The New York Yankees will once again host the Boston Red Sox for the AL Wild Card Game 1, marking a familiar postseason opening for both teams. The series is set to begin on September 29 at 8 p.m. ET at Yankee Stadium.
Cam Schlittler is slated to start on the mound for the Yankees, less than a year after his notable performance in Game 3 of last season's Wild Card series, where he recorded 12 strikeouts over eight scoreless innings.
The Yankees' roster for the Wild Card series does not include captain Aaron Judge, who is sidelined with a right calf strain sustained two weeks prior. Judge could potentially return if the Yankees advance past the Wild Card round. However, Giancarlo Stanton and Trent Grisham have been included on the roster, having recently come off the injured list.
For the Red Sox, pitcher Garrett Crochet has been added to the official lineup. Crochet has not pitched since late April due to a shoulder injury. The Red Sox also face injury concerns with their own roster.
This season, the Yankees held a slight edge in the season series, winning seven out of 13 games against the Red Sox. The winner of this best-of-three series will advance to face the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS.
