Yankees Owner Hal Steinbrenner Calls Offense 'Detrimental' After Early Exit
Hal Steinbrenner expressed disappointment with the team's inconsistent offense, citing it as a major factor in their latest postseason failure.
New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner has described the team's offense as "detrimental" following their elimination from the American League Division Series. In his first public comments since the Yankees were swept by the Rays, Steinbrenner cited offensive inconsistency as a primary reason for the team's early postseason exit.
"I was disappointed, frankly, with the offense throughout the course of the year as a whole," Steinbrenner said Wednesday. "As a whole, they were very inconsistent and for long periods of time. This has been twice now where the offense hasn’t lived up to their end of the bargain and got the job done. The offense was a big disappointment for me and it has to be better."
Steinbrenner acknowledged that the prolonged absences of key players like Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, with Judge missing the postseason entirely, significantly impacted the team's performance. However, he indicated that a comprehensive evaluation of all aspects of the organization, "from the top," will guide the Yankees' offseason priorities.
