Yankees Fans Demand Change After Playoff Exit, Poll Reveals

New York Yankees fans are calling for widespread changes within the organization after the team's season concluded with a sweep by the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League Division Series. A poll conducted by The Post among more than 11,000 readers revealed a strong desire for leadership turnover.

Nearly 85 percent of voters expressed that manager Aaron Boone should be fired. Boone, who took over as manager in 2018, has led the team to one World Series appearance in nine seasons, a loss in 2024. Critics have pointed to a lack of championships despite the team's consistent high expectations.

General Manager Brian Cashman also faced significant dissatisfaction, with 73 percent of poll participants calling for his departure. Cashman has been with the Yankees for 29 seasons and has overseen four World Series titles and seven American League pennants. However, he has drawn criticism for his continued support of Boone and recent personnel decisions, especially as the team's championship drought has extended.

Fans also voiced their opinions on specific players. A majority of those polled want Jazz Chisholm Jr. (91 percent), Trent Grisham (88 percent), and Giancarlo Stanton (86 percent) to leave the team. In contrast, Anthony Volpe saw increased support, with 79 percent of voters believing he should remain with the Yankees.

Comments from poll participants highlighted a desire for a shift in offensive strategy, moving away from a reliance on home runs toward a more contact-oriented approach. Suggestions included prioritizing players with higher batting averages and finding a traditional leadoff hitter. One voter specifically mentioned the Tampa Bay Rays' ability to force opponents into making errors due to their contact hitting as a model the Yankees should emulate.

The poll results indicate a clear sentiment among the fanbase for a significant overhaul following another disappointing postseason outcome.
