X Factor Star Sam Bailey's Son Hospitalized After Seizure

X Factor star Sam Bailey shared on Instagram that her 17-year-old son, Tommy, was recently taken to the hospital by ambulance after experiencing a severe seizure. Bailey, who rose to fame on the ITV show in 2013, explained that her son, who was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2024, had a second seizure in five weeks.

Bailey described a chaotic scene at the children's A&E department, where she and Tommy waited for nearly seven hours before seeing a doctor. She reported a busy night with "lots of screaming and people being restrained," but emphasized that the hospital staff were "doing their best" amidst the high patient volume. Tommy was reportedly suffering from a possible concussion, leading to an overnight stay. Bailey expressed concern, noting that Tommy is on medication for epilepsy which should prevent such seizures.

In a later update, Bailey posted that Tommy had been discharged after CT scans and blood tests came back clear. She stated they need to see a neurologist to understand why he is experiencing seizures despite being on medication and to discuss potential adjustments to his treatment. Bailey also revealed that Tommy had been officially diagnosed with autism and epilepsy after undergoing NHS tests.

Bailey previously spoke about the challenges in securing adequate support for her son. She recounted on GB News that doctors initially stated they were unable to assist her teenage son. The situation became so distressing that Tommy reportedly became suicidal due to a lack of necessary help. Bailey described difficulties with mainstream schooling, leading Tommy to miss a year and a half of education, during which he experienced significant struggles at home.

She recalled approaching doctors with concerns about her son's well-being, but was reportedly told they could not manage the situation and were directed to the National Autistic Society. Bailey expressed her bewilderment at this response, stating she had a letter confirming the GP turned her son away. She expressed gratitude to the staff at Leicester Hospital for their care and support throughout the challenging period.
