Elizabeth 'Lizzy' Barrett, a 17-year-old from Fremont County, Wyoming, has been missing since September 8, according to the Wyoming Missing Persons database. Her family reported that she climbed out of her bedroom window in the middle of the night and has not been seen or heard from since.
Barrett is described as 5'4" tall with brown hair and brown eyes, weighing approximately 134 pounds. She is believed to have been wearing a gray sweatshirt, jeans, and pink sneakers. The teen reportedly took some clothing and a maroon backpack but left her phone behind, a decision her parents believe was intentional to avoid contact.
Her father, Charles 'CJ' Barrett, told Cowboy State Daily that his daughter has never behaved this way before and expressed a desire for her safe return without demanding an explanation.
Approximately one year prior to her disappearance, Barrett was recognized as Student of the Week at Wind River High School. A local publication, County10, highlighted her involvement in wrestling, volleyball, and track, as well as her hobbies of babysitting and woodworking. At the time, she expressed plans to join the Army after graduation.
Law enforcement has stated that there is no evidence suggesting foul play in her disappearance, and it is believed she left on foot. The family resides in Pavillion, a rural town with a population of 230 in central-west Wyoming, located within the Wind River Indian Reservation.
Anyone with information regarding Elizabeth Barrett's whereabouts is urged to contact the Fremont County Sheriff at 307-332-5611 or the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (WDCI) at 307-777-7181.
