Wynonna Judd Reveals Strained Relationship With Sister Ashley Again

Wynonna Judd has revealed that her relationship with her sister, Ashley Judd, has again become strained, stating they are no longer speaking. "We're taking a break, which all families can relate to," Wynonna, 62, told People magazine. She added that they are not currently "connected" and that Ashley has not yet heard her new album, "The Hard Truth."

The sisters, daughters of the late country singer Naomi Judd, have a history of ups and downs in their relationship. In a 2015 interview, Wynonna described them as having "separate lives" and disagreeing on most things, noting Ashley's single status and global travel contrasted with her own role as a mother.

However, in October 2022, months after their mother's suicide, Wynonna had stated on the Today show that she and Ashley were closer than they had been in a long time, urging the press to refrain from criticizing their bond. "We don't agree on much, but we support one another and we agree to disagree," she had said at the time.

While the exact cause of their current rift is unclear, their differing political views may be a factor. Rosie O'Donnell recently claimed that Wynonna is a supporter of former President Donald Trump. Ashley, an actress and activist, is a registered Democrat and has been a vocal critic of Trump. She has previously considered a run for U.S. Senate in Kentucky against Mitch McConnell.

Wynonna has visited the White House, advocating for criminal justice reform during Trump's first term. In 2017, she publicly distanced herself from Ashley's anti-Trump remarks after her sister recited a poem at the Women's March on Washington. "I am not my sister's keeper. The end," Wynonna posted on social media.

Ashley, 58, has also spoken about her childhood, noting in a May Instagram post that she lacked a consistent role model due to their mother Naomi's extensive touring schedule. She has been working to provide for her own inner child, acknowledging unmet needs from her youth.
