Wynonna Judd Reflects on 'Losing Herself' During Daughter's Addiction Struggles
The country music icon opened up about the emotional toll of her daughter Grace Kelley's years-long battle with addiction.
Wynonna Judd revealed that she felt she "lost" herself while navigating her daughter Grace Kelley's protracted struggle with addiction.
"I became so consumed with worrying about Grace — where she was, if she was safe, if she was alive — that I lost myself," the country star told AARP in a recent interview. "I would be packing to go on the road, and I would cry and think I couldn’t leave in case she needed me."
Judd, 62, stated that she has learned the importance of showing up for her daughter, even when unable to directly intervene. "You try to stay present and try to fully engage with your daughter, who you can’t do anything for," she shared.
Kelley, 30, has faced numerous legal challenges since 2015. In October 2025, she was arrested and cited for driving with a suspended or revoked license. She pleaded guilty to the offense in June and was sentenced to 15 months in prison.
Last July, Kelley's legal team requested a temporary release for her to give birth via C-section. However, a judge denied the request, ordering that Kelley remain in custody and be escorted to the hospital for the delivery. Kelley's second child was born in August.
Judd also shared that she learned of her estranged daughter's second pregnancy through TikTok. "I don’t know anything," Judd told People. "I’m heartbroken, and she cut me off a year ago. I’m walking a very interesting walk right now, where I absolutely know very little. As a matter of fact, I learned about it on TikTok."
Judd, who also has a son, Elijah, with ex-husband Arch Kelley III, adopted Kelley's first child, Kaliyah, who was born in 2022.
