WWE Legend Kane Open to Tennessee Senate Appointment
Glenn Jacobs, former Knox County Mayor, confirms he would seriously consider replacing Sen. Marsha Blackburn if she wins the state's gubernatorial race.
Glenn Jacobs, widely known as WWE legend "Kane," has stated he is open to being appointed to the U.S. Senate if Sen. Marsha Blackburn wins the Tennessee governor's race. Jacobs, who previously served as the mayor of Knox County, confirmed his interest in the potential appointment during an appearance on the "Fox News Rundown" podcast.
Blackburn is currently running for governor, a position she could assume in January 2027 if victorious. This would create a vacancy in her Senate seat, which the governor has the authority to fill via appointment.
"Well, for me, that is something that I'm very honored that people would say about me," Jacobs said when asked about the possibility. "At the same time, there's still a gubernatorial race that Gov. Blackburn needs to win. And she's going to. I'm a big part of that."
Jacobs has been actively involved in Blackburn's campaign, serving as her campaign treasurer and traveling with her across the state. He emphasized his current focus on supporting her gubernatorial bid.
Should Blackburn win the governorship and offer him the Senate seat, Jacobs indicated he would give it serious consideration. He reiterated this stance on "The Brian Kilmeade Show," stating, "I would say that I would do it. Yes, yes, I would."
Jacobs, who left his role as Knox County Mayor in September 2026 after completing his second term, had previously explored a gubernatorial run himself. He ultimately withdrew to endorse Blackburn, a move that fueled speculation about a potential Senate appointment.
Blackburn secured the Republican nomination for governor in August and is set to face Democratic nominee Jerri Green in the general election on November 3. President Donald Trump has endorsed Blackburn's gubernatorial bid.
