Fans attending the World Cup quarter-final match in Miami are facing unprecedented costs, with parking spaces near the stadium priced as high as $4,277.12, and last-minute tickets for the game reportedly selling for a minimum of $1,900. The Miami Stadium, located 17 miles north of downtown, has limited public transportation options, contributing to the surge in parking fees. Official parking partner SeatGeek listed a premium space in the Black North Parking Lot, designated for wheelchair users and those with mobility issues, at over $3,100.
Other parking options are also significantly marked up from typical event prices. Just Park is offering spaces for over $1,200, compared to their usual rate of around $78 for other events. A seemingly more affordable $40 parking spot at Lot 95 Golden Glades is actually a park-and-ride option located 6.1 miles from the stadium, requiring either a bus or a two-hour walk.
Beyond parking, ticket resale prices on FIFA's website remain high, with some seats going for up to $4,800. Fans who purchased tickets months in advance for approximately $350 are now considering watching the match from local bars if on-site costs remain prohibitive.
The Norway team experienced an accommodation issue upon arrival in Miami, with players complaining of mouldy and smoky conditions in their initial hotel. The squad, including star striker Erling Haaland, was moved to a new hotel after their suites at the Dalmar Hotel in Fort Lauderdale were deemed unsatisfactory.
Meanwhile, England is expected to have the support of around 30,000 fans at the stadium. The match has also seen some lighthearted geopolitical commentary, with Norway's top-selling newspaper VG running a poll questioning Prince William's absence from the game, while Crown Prince Haakon of Norway is expected to attend. Prince William had previously congratulated the England team on their win against Mexico.
England midfielder Jordan Henderson will not participate in the match due to a broken wrist, sustained during celebrations after their previous game. He underwent surgery and is reportedly preparing for recovery.
