Worker Thwarts Machete Robbery with Hockey Stick

A shop worker in Nottinghamshire defended himself with a hockey stick during a machete-wielding robbery at a local convenience store. The incident occurred on July 4 at approximately 9:10 a.m. at Crest Mini Market in Bestwood.

The suspect, who was disguised in black clothing and a face covering, entered the store and brandished a large knife. CCTV footage captured the moment the worker, armed with a hockey stick, confronted the assailant. The confrontation ended with the robber fleeing the store with a stolen bottle of vodka. The shop worker sustained no physical injuries but was left shaken by the event.

Nottinghamshire Police are seeking to identify the individual responsible and have released a description, noting a distinctive tattoo on the suspect's left arm. Crimestoppers has offered a reward of up to £5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

Detective Constable Thomas Lowe of Nottinghamshire Police stated, "This was an unpleasant ordeal for the victim and we are determined to find the person responsible." He added that detectives are supporting the victim and conducting a thorough investigation. The police are collaborating with Crimestoppers to encourage public assistance in apprehending the offender.
