Woody Harrelson Steps Out With Wife Laura Louie in Rare Public Appearance
The actor and his wife, who have been together for 39 years, were seen in New York City.
Woody Harrelson, 65, was photographed with his wife, Laura Louie, 61, during a rare public outing in New York City on Sunday. The couple, who have been together for nearly four decades and married in 2008, were seen leaving their hotel. Harrelson was observed discreetly giving the doorman a $100 bill.
Harrelson and Louie, who share three daughters—Deni, 32, Zoe, 30, and Makani, 20—maintain a relatively private life. Louie is reportedly more reclusive than her husband. Their last joint red carpet appearance was in 2023 at the premiere of Harrelson's film "Champions," accompanied by two of their daughters. Louie did, however, attend the Hollywood Walk of Fame event in December honoring director James L. Brooks.
The couple first met in 1987 on the set of Harrelson's sitcom "Cheers." Harrelson reportedly hired Louie as his personal assistant the following day. She served in that role for three years before their romantic relationship began. Harrelson was previously married to writer Nancy Simon from 1985 to 1986.
Harrelson and Louie tied the knot in a small, private ceremony in Maui, Hawaii, in 2008. They welcomed their daughters in subsequent years: Deni in March 1994, Zoe in September 1996, and Makani in June 2006.
Meanwhile, Harrelson has also been in the spotlight recently for his long-standing friendship with actor Matthew McConaughey. The pair, who first met in 1997 while filming "EDtv," are now starring together in the Apple TV+ series "Brothers." The show is based on a playful theory that Harrelson and McConaughey might be half-brothers. The speculation originated when McConaughey's mother claimed she knew Harrelson's father, convicted contract killer Charles Voyde Harrelson, around the time of McConaughey's conception. Harrelson's father, who was serving a life sentence for a 1979 murder, died in prison in 2007. Harrelson had limited contact with his father after his parents' divorce when he was seven and later attempted to reconnect with him in prison.
McConaughey and Harrelson have leaned into the rumor for their new show. McConaughey told The Hollywood Reporter that the narrative became an entertaining story for their families. Harrelson humorously insists the brotherhood is true, even if DNA tests suggest otherwise. McConaughey has expressed hesitation about taking a DNA test, noting it could disrupt his established understanding of his paternal identity.
