The Girly Gig Army, a women-only group designed to help members attend events together, has grown to approximately 700 members. The group operates in Eastbourne, Hastings, and Brighton, providing a social network for women seeking companionship at various outings.

Group founder Havard expressed initial skepticism about attendance, but noted the strong turnout and immediate bonding among members. "What has been absolutely remarkable is that every single event we have had, people have got together and it's like they've been friends for years," Havard stated. She observed that many initial attendees were nervous about attending alone but found comfort and connection within the group.

Simple measures, such as branded t-shirts and badges, have been instrumental in helping members identify each other and initiate conversations. Member Karen Bird highlighted the effectiveness of these identifiers, explaining, "No one wants to go out on their own. No one wants to walk into a bar and not know anybody. You feel a bit awkward." She added that the t-shirts and badges make it easier for members to approach one another, fostering a sense of community.

The organization aims to create an inclusive environment where "everyone is welcome," as described by Bird, emphasizing its role in building a supportive community for its members.
