Woman Stranded Abroad After Tinder Date Ghosts Her

Zena Wozniak, a 37-year-old personal assistant from Los Angeles, detailed her harrowing experience of being stranded in London after a man she met on Tinder, whom she hoped to marry, abruptly ended their budding romance and left her alone in his apartment. Her account of the ordeal was shared in a viral social media post.

Wozniak had planned a six-week European trip with the man, referred to as "Charlie," who was visiting from London. After meeting him in San Francisco and spending time together in California, she booked non-refundable accommodations and travel across Europe, inspired by her personal motto, "Make. Interesting. Choices." She hoped their time together in London would solidify their relationship and lead to a "big, magical romance."

However, mere minutes after Wozniak landed in London in September 2022, Charlie claimed he was not well and ended their relationship. He told her he needed to stay elsewhere, leaving Wozniak in his apartment. She soon discovered, through his Tinder activity, that he had gone to a romantic getaway they had planned to share.

Left with limited funds and no immediate support, Wozniak stayed in Charlie's apartment for three days, experiencing significant emotional distress. She eventually connected with a local friend who offered her refuge. Despite the circumstances, Wozniak proceeded with her planned travel to Italy and Greece before returning home.

In a Substack essay titled "I Flew To London To See A Man. He Abandoned Me In His Flat," Wozniak described the financial and emotional toll of the experience. She recounted feeling like a "total stranger" to herself and the disappointment of her planned romantic adventure turning into a "nightmare."

While Wozniak initially grieved the loss of her romantic ideal, she now views the experience as a catalyst for personal growth. She stated that after the incident, she spent two years processing the disappointment but has since embraced solo travel and self-discovery. She continues to use dating apps but approaches them with less expectation.

Wozniak's story resonated with many online, sparking outrage from readers who sympathized with her situation and criticized Charlie's actions. Some commenters speculated about his true circumstances, suggesting he might have been married or had other undisclosed commitments. Despite the painful experience, Wozniak maintains that she would still embark on similar adventures, emphasizing the lessons learned about bravery and self-reliance.

"Through my story, I hope other single young women realize how capable they are and how much magic they can bring to the world—with or without a man," she told The Post. She continues to travel and live life on her own terms, finding a "much more freeing, healthy place" in her relationship with herself.
