Woman Stabbed to Death in NYC Apartment; Boyfriend Falls From Building
Authorities are investigating the death of Pheona Premraji, 31, who was found with multiple stab wounds, and the subsequent fatal fall of her boyfriend from their Queens residence.
A 31-year-old woman was found fatally stabbed inside her Queens apartment on Wednesday, with authorities stating her boyfriend is the alleged assailant. Shortly after the discovery of Pheona Premraji, her 32-year-old boyfriend fell from the building's seven-story roof. The incident occurred just before noon at the apartment on Neilson Street near Dinsmore Avenue in Far Rockaway.
Premraji was discovered with stab wounds to her face, neck, and body. The alleged murder weapon was found discarded nearby. According to police sources, the boyfriend climbed to the building's roof shortly after the stabbing and jumped. Witnesses reportedly pleaded with him to come down before he fell.
Emergency services responded to the scene, where they found the man with slash wounds to his wrists, ankles, and torso. He was transported to Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital in critical condition. As of Thursday afternoon, he had not been charged, and it remains unclear how he sustained his injuries. The cause of the slash wounds is under investigation.
The building superintendent informed responding officers that the man who fell lived on the second floor, leading to the discovery of Premraji's body. A relative identified as Harry, Premraji's uncle, stated that she had been dating her alleged boyfriend for about six years and claimed he had a history of abuse. He described the boyfriend as unemployed and financially dependent on Premraji, alleging frequent physical altercations.
"He beat her a lot of times, man," Harry told The Post. "She left and came to live by me, but she would come back [to him]."
A neighbor on the second floor reported hearing yelling from the couple's apartment and suggested the boyfriend wanted Premraji to leave. "From what I understand, he wanted her to leave, and she wouldn’t leave," the neighbor said. "The apartment is his. It wasn’t working out."
Sources indicated that police had responded to the residence on previous occasions due to domestic disputes, including an incident in April 2026 where the boyfriend allegedly damaged Premraji's property after an argument. Police were also called on Christmas Eve in 2020 following a dispute between the couple. Additionally, sources reported an earlier incident where the man allegedly assaulted his female cousin.
Despite these domestic issues, Premraji's cousin, Akbar Khan, described her as family-oriented and recalled their last conversation being about future plans. He mentioned that Premraji's father had brought her from Guyana to the U.S. as a child with the intention of providing her with an education.
