A manhunt is underway in Worcester, Massachusetts, for a 58-year-old woman wanted in connection with the death of an off-duty police officer. The Worcester Police Department has identified the woman as Karen Solomon and issued a warning that she may be armed.

Police responded to Solomon's residence on Wildwood Avenue and found a male victim, who was identified as a 30-year veteran of the Worcester Police Department. The officer has not yet been publicly identified. Authorities have not released information regarding the cause of death.

Massachusetts State Police are assisting in the search, utilizing a helicopter and an emergency response team to comb nearby wooded areas. Solomon is described as a White woman with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing pajama shorts and a tank top, heading toward Westcott Street.

Neighbors expressed shock at the news, with one resident describing the deceased officer as an "awesome guy" frequently seen in the neighborhood.

According to local reports, Solomon has a history of engagement with law enforcement narratives. In a 2016 interview, she stated she was married to a Worcester police officer and had made it her mission to share stories of law enforcement. She authored "Hearts Beneath The Badge," intended to highlight officers' positive actions, and "The Price They Pay," which explored the psychological toll of policing. Solomon also developed 1stHelp.Net, a website aimed at connecting first responders in crisis with resources.

Police are urging the public not to approach Solomon if sighted and to contact authorities immediately with any information. The Worcester Police Department can be reached at 508-799-8606, or 911 for emergencies.
