Woman Shares Bizarre Voice Message from Man Who Stood Her Up
A dating app user's humorous account of a no-show date has gone viral on TikTok.
An Australian woman's humorous experience with a no-show Hinge date has captured the attention of social media users after she shared the man's peculiar voice message. Harmony, as she is known on TikTok, posted a video of herself and a friend listening to the audio, which has since garnered over 850,000 views.
The incident occurred after Harmony had traveled for a four-hour flight and arrived to find a voice note from the man who had failed to appear for their scheduled morning coffee date. In the video, Harmony and her friend are seen in a car, reacting with laughter to the man's series of justifications for his absence.
Prior to receiving the voice message, Harmony had exchanged text messages with the man. She sent a text at 7:38 a.m. asking, "Still keen on Gather and Grounds at 8:30?" After receiving no reply, she sent a sarcastic message at 10:58 a.m.: "Coffee was great this morning if you were wondering!"
The man's response came via a rapidly delivered voice message. He began by apologizing, stating, "F***, I’m so sorry. I slept all the way in. Didn’t even check my phone because I had a 10 o’clock appointment with Jiu-Jitsu… I said I was going to be there to help a competitor train, so I was there doing that from 10:00 till 11:30. But I slept in till about 9:30 to do it, so very rushed and silly morning for myself."
He then added what struck Harmony and her friend as a particularly odd statement: "I’m jealous because I wanted to go to Gather & Grounds before you flew out… I’m jealous that you went there without me."
Harmony's friend humorously mirrored the man's logic, saying, "I’m jealous that you went to our date and I didn’t turn up!" Harmony responded, "I’ve dodged the biggest bullet. That is the funniest thing."
Social media users reacted to the nearly 850,000-viewed video with a range of responses. Many expressed amusement, with one user commenting, "The way he’s acting like he didn’t stand you up." Another stated, "Boys are really out here thinking they’re the prize, and it’s embarrassing." Some found the excuse particularly creative, with one person noting, "‘Appointment with jiu-jitsu’ is what I’m using from now on."
The video has provided significant entertainment on TikTok, with Harmony's experience becoming a viral moment. News.com.au has reached out to Harmony for further comment.
