Jennifer Pritchard, 47, has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for a malicious online campaign against her ex-husband, Sergeant Steve Pritchard. A court heard that Pritchard created a Facebook page, "Jen's Justice," where she posted fabricated stories about her ex-husband, including allegations that he was a rapist and a baby killer.
These false claims led to police investigations. The prosecutor, Pamela Kaiga, stated that Pritchard posted lies over a two-month period. This is not the first instance of Pritchard fabricating accusations against her ex-husband; she was previously jailed for 12 months in 2022 for attempting to pervert the course of justice by plotting to have Sgt. Pritchard convicted of stalking.
In a victim impact statement, Sgt. Pritchard described the campaign as a "false and malicious campaign on social media to ruin my career." He reported suffering from anxiety, depression, and other health issues as a result, stating, "I just want my life back. I don't think she will ever stop." He also noted significant financial strain due to legal costs associated with his ex-wife's actions.
During sentencing at Cardiff Crown Court, Judge Andrew Hammond addressed Pritchard, stating he did not believe her claims of remorse. He highlighted her history of false accusations and noted that she may derive satisfaction from the harm she causes. The judge determined that Pritchard presented a high risk of harm to her ex-husband and his colleagues.
In addition to the 18-month prison sentence, Pritchard received an indefinite restraining order, prohibiting her from contacting Sgt. Pritchard. She pleaded guilty to malicious communications and has multiple prior convictions for seven offenses.
