Woman's 'Husband Application' Goes Viral, Attracts Hundreds of Suitors

Arin Patterson, a 36-year-old single woman from Charlotte, North Carolina, has garnered widespread attention for her unconventional approach to finding a spouse: a detailed "husband application" Google form.

Patterson pinned the three-page form to her Instagram bio in late August and promoted her search on social media. The application, which closed for submissions at 11:59 p.m. EDT on the day of the report, attracted 241 submissions and an estimated 1,000 to 1,500 direct messages.

Patterson described her intent on the form as seeking a "handsome, intelligent, kind, loyal, and generous man" interested in dates and meaningful conversation. She expressed a desire for a serious relationship leading to marriage, inspired by her parents' 44-year union.

Having broken off an engagement in 2019 and moved to Charlotte for a fresh start after the pandemic, Patterson has been single for approximately three years. She has utilized various dating methods, including popular dating apps and in-person meetings, but found her efforts had not yielded the desired results, prompting her unique application strategy.

"I have done literally everything that I know to do, which is how I got to the husband application," Patterson stated.

The application itself begins with Patterson's self-description as an "extroverted," "people person" who is "optimistic, bubbly, silly, kind and authentic." She also highlighted her commitment to "learning and growth" as a recent master's degree graduate.

Her stated minimum qualifications for a potential husband include being between 28 and 47 years old, Christian, single, and ready to find love with the ultimate goal of becoming a husband and father. Preferred qualities include holding a bachelor's degree or higher and standing at least 5'10" to complement Patterson's own height of 5'8" (5'0" in heels).

Applicants were prompted to share details about what they seek in a partner and subjects they could discuss at length. The entire process has drawn polarized reactions on social media, with some applauding her intentionality and others expressing skepticism.

Patterson acknowledged that some might view her approach as desperate but maintained it stems from a clear desire for a committed relationship. "I don’t think that having a desire for something means that you’re desperate for it," she said. "I’m just very clear about what I want and very intentional. This has been my opportunity to do that in a fun and funny way, but it’s very much a serious thing that I’m pursuing."
