Woman Recounts Recovery From Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Through Lifestyle Changes

Jan Rothney, who struggled with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), also known as ME/CFS, for years, has shared her experience of recovery through significant lifestyle changes. Rothney reported that doctors had initially told her she would never recover from the condition, which left her in a state of constant, "bone-deep" tiredness.

After nearly a year of experiencing severe fatigue, Rothney, a mother of two working in education, began implementing changes. She states that she has not had a relapse of the condition in 20 years, attributing her recovery to these adjustments without the need for extra medication. Rothney, now 65, hopes her approach can help others facing similar health challenges.

Rothney refers to her method as the FEARLESS technique and details her journey in her book, "Breaking Free from Chronic Fatigue and Long Covid Symptoms." The second edition of her book was published in July.

Jan believes that her approach – which she's dubbed the FEARLESS technique – can help others facing the condition

She emphasizes the importance of focusing on small milestones, such as the daily act of getting out of bed, as a part of the recovery process. Rothney considers herself proof of the technique's efficacy, noting that letting go of negative influences was also a crucial element in her recovery.

Rothney is now among the estimated 10 percent of ME/CFS patients who experience a full recovery. She aims to inspire others with the condition by sharing her successful strategy.

Today, Jan is one of the miraculous 10 per cent of ME/CFS patients who has had a full recovery
