Jan Rothney, now 65, experienced debilitating symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome for nearly a year, describing her fatigue as "bone-deep." A mother of two and working two jobs in education at the time, Rothney believed she understood exhaustion until she was diagnosed with CFS.

After years of struggling, doctors reportedly told her recovery was unlikely. However, Rothney has not experienced a relapse in 20 years, attributing her sustained recovery to a series of lifestyle changes she implemented. She did not require additional medication to manage her condition.

Rothney believes her approach, which she has termed the FEARLESS technique, could assist others facing similar health challenges. Today, she is among the approximately 10 percent of ME/CFS patients who achieve a full recovery.

She emphasized that letting go of negative people was a crucial element in her recovery process. Rothney made conscious lifestyle adjustments to overcome her debilitating symptoms and now aims to encourage others with ME/CFS to adopt similar strategies.
