Woman Locked in Urgent Care Clinic During Asthma Attack
A New Hampshire woman experienced a frightening ordeal when she was accidentally locked inside an urgent care facility after staff left for the night.
A New Hampshire woman was trapped inside an urgent care clinic on September 24 after staff members locked up for the night and failed to realize she was still inside. Tia Chandler had visited ConvenientMD in Keene for a steroid shot to treat an asthma attack.
Chandler reported that she emerged from a room to find the clinic empty. Initially assuming a small staff remained for cleaning, she soon realized no one was present. In a state of panic, she texted her husband to call 911, fearing she was locked in.
When she attempted to open a door, a security alarm was triggered. She then contacted the police for assistance, describing the situation as both bizarre and terrifying.
“Very shocking. Just like, I can’t believe this just happened to me,” Chandler told WCVB. “That only happens in movies or on a show, not in real life.”
The incident has led Chandler to reconsider her future visits to the clinic, despite having used their services previously.
ConvenientMD issued a statement expressing regret for the incident. "We sincerely regret the incident that occurred on Thursday, Sept. 24, at our urgent care clinic in Keene involving one of our valued patients," the statement read. "Clearly, this should never have happened. … We have taken steps to ensure this won’t happen again and we remain committed to providing the Keene area with the high-quality care we have been providing for more than a decade."
