The woman at the center of a viral video showing her carrying a baby and food down stadium steps has spoken out to defend her husband, who faced online criticism after the clip circulated.

The incident occurred at a San Francisco Giants game, where the woman, identified as Erika, was seen managing their infant daughter and multiple containers of food. The game's broadcasters, Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow, dubbed her "mom of the year" and an "Olympic champion," while humorously portraying her husband as inattentive.

This portrayal, amplified by social media, led to widespread judgment of the husband online. However, Erika addressed the situation in a Substack essay published on September 25, stating that the internet's interpretation of the moment did not reflect her marriage.

"Millions of people have watched me carry my daughter and food back to my seat at a San Francisco Giants game," Erika wrote. "They have praised me as ‘mom of the year’ and called my husband too many names to list. Some have sent me DMs or posted TikTok commentary videos about why I need to leave him."

She identified her husband as Ramses and their daughter as Anastasia, emphasizing that the brief exchange captured on camera was not indicative of their relationship. Erika explained that Ramses is a devoted husband and father, and their nine-year marriage involves mutual support, particularly as they raise two young children.

According to Erika, Ramses had offered to help care for their daughter while she went to the bathroom and get food. He also inquired if she wanted to eat first or if he should hold the containers. She declined his offers, noting that he was processing the death of a friend at the time.

"Our marriage has room for either of us to need help," Erika stated. "That evening, I chose to take care of him. A camera catching me doing something for my husband doesn’t show all the times he has done something for me."
