Woman Found Dead in Darwin Home; Partner Arrested

Authorities are investigating the death of a 28-year-old woman who was discovered unresponsive at a residence in Malak, a northern suburb of Darwin, on Wednesday morning. The discovery was made around 9:20 a.m. by a local resident.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene but were unable to revive the woman, who was pronounced deceased shortly after their arrival. Police have arrested her 26-year-old partner in connection with the incident. Investigators allege the man assaulted the woman in the hours leading up to her death. He was also reportedly in violation of a domestic violence order previously issued to protect the woman.

The 26-year-old man remained in custody as of Wednesday evening. Neighbors reported hearing "massive screaming" from the home around 5 a.m. on Wednesday, several hours before the woman was found. One neighbor also claimed that police had visited the home on five consecutive nights prior to the woman's death.

Young children are believed to have resided at the property, with toys and play equipment visible from the exterior. The exact cause of the woman's death has not yet been confirmed, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact them at 131 444 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
