Woman Found Dead in Central Park Amid Nor'easter
Authorities are investigating after a woman in her 60s was discovered with stab wounds and head trauma in a Central Park gazebo during a severe storm.
A woman in her 60s was found dead in Central Park on Sunday morning, authorities reported. The discovery was made at approximately 9:43 a.m. near East Drive and East 74th Street. Responding officers found the victim with multiple stab wounds and significant head trauma.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. According to amNY, a source indicated the woman was believed to be homeless and living in the park.
The crime scene was located off a main path, with evidence of a large tent and scattered clothing. Police cordoned off the area and conducted their investigation in the heavy rain.
The discovery occurred as a nor'easter impacted the East Coast, bringing severe weather, flooding, and power outages to the region. The storm has been linked to at least one other fatality from a falling tree and one missing person.
The investigation into the woman's death is ongoing, and officials have not yet classified the case as a homicide. No arrests have been made at this time.
