Woman Fatally Stabbed; Suspect Freed as Investigation Continues

A murder suspect has been released on bail as authorities continue to investigate the fatal stabbing of 26-year-old Alisha Samuels, who was discovered with fatal stab wounds on Dorking Avenue in Manchester at approximately 2 a.m. on Thursday.

Officers responded to reports of a disturbance, which included hearing "screaming and shouting" from locals. A vehicle reportedly collided with a police van on nearby Briscoe Lane as a man was taken from the car. Forensic investigators examined a damaged vehicle at the scene, with multiple areas cordoned off.

A 25-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of murder. However, Greater Manchester Police stated he is no longer being treated as a suspect and has been released on bail pending further inquiries. The force confirmed that their investigation remains active, and they are actively pursuing other individuals believed to be involved in the incident.

Friends have paid tribute to Samuels, describing her as a "beautiful soul" and a "beautiful, funny, loyal, and kind" person. One friend, Aimee Quinn, wrote on social media that Samuels was "more of a sister" to her and expressed devastation over her death and the loss of future plans.

Another friend, Carris Mallon, called Samuels her "whole entire world" and "bestest friend," stating they were inseparable. A woman who knew Samuels from school described her as having a "smile that would light up every room."

Authorities have urged the public not to speculate about the circumstances of Samuels' death, as such information can hinder the investigation and cause further distress to her family. Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant emphasized that while one man has been released, the investigation is ongoing, and they are seeking outstanding individuals.

Separately, a 61-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were arrested on Thursday on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Greater Manchester Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward. They can be contacted at 0161 856 5464 or via the force's Major Incident Public Portal. Anonymous tips can be made to the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
