A 39-year-old woman was fatally shot multiple times in the stomach as she was getting into her car in the Bronx on Monday night. The incident occurred on Murdock Avenue near Nereid Avenue in the Wakefield neighborhood just before midnight.
Law enforcement sources indicated that the gunfire came from the passenger side of the victim's vehicle, a black Jeep. It remains unclear if the woman, identified as Julia Anderson, was the intended target.
Anderson, a resident of nearby Mount Vernon, was discovered on the ground outside her car by responding officers. She was transported to Jacobi Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.
Police stated that no arrests have been made as of Tuesday morning, and no suspect information has been released. Anderson has no prior arrest record in New York City, according to sources. It is believed she was alone at the time of the shooting.
