A Florida woman was fatally attacked by a large alligator while she was kneeling in about three feet of water in the Econlockhatchee River, located nearly 30 miles inland in Little Big Econ State Forest. Officials said the 31-year-old Orlando woman was swimming with her boyfriend and a friend on Sunday afternoon when the alligator lunged from the water.
The reptile reportedly bit her, tearing one arm off completely and dislocating her other arm. Her boyfriend jumped into the water in an attempt to free her from the alligator's grasp. Harrowing 911 calls captured the immediate aftermath of the attack, with one caller describing the victim's severe injuries. The incident occurred in Seminole County, Florida.
