Woman Dies in Homemade Bungee Jump Accident in Germany
A 21-year-old woman died after a homemade bungee cord failed, causing her to fall 50 feet and strike a rock face in a German quarry.

A 21-year-old woman has died following a tragic accident involving a homemade bungee jumping device in Germany. The incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. on Saturday in a former quarry in Warstein, North Rhine-Westphalia.
Paramedics were called to the scene, but despite resuscitation attempts, the woman was pronounced dead at the location. Police initially treated the incident as a climbing accident, but later clarified that the woman had died after jumping off a clifftop. Authorities have stated there is no evidence of foul play and are classifying the event as a tragic accident.
According to local reports, the woman, who was from Aschersleben, was part of a group of four or five individuals who were scaling the quarry. A spokesman for the police explained that the homemade device was attached to a highline, which is typically a double rope stretched between two rock faces. The woman fell approximately 50 feet and hit a rock face when the homemade bungee cord reportedly failed.
Police confirmed that a 34-year-old man had successfully made a jump prior to the woman's fatal descent. The remaining members of the group were unharmed but received counseling from fire department chaplains. Reports indicate that the individuals in the group were casually acquainted and occasionally participated in climbing trips together.
