A woman died Friday after losing control of her SUV and crashing into a backyard swimming pool on Long Island, police said. The incident occurred in Hewlett, Nassau County. The unidentified 40-year-old driver left a path of destruction, striking a tree and a parked car before her 2023 GMC SUV plunged into the pool.
Officials believe the driver was removed from the vehicle before their arrival at the home on Elinor Road near Woodside Drive. Authorities attempted life-saving measures before the woman was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her cause of death has not yet been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
