Woman Dies After Stopping to Help Neighbor in Car Crash
A good Samaritan was killed when she was thrown from an elevated highway after stopping to help her neighbor escape an overturned vehicle.
A woman died after stopping to assist her neighbor in a car accident and subsequently being pushed from an elevated highway, according to police and family members. The incident occurred on Interstate 10 in New Orleans on September 25.
Ka’Sheena “KK” Daniels, 31, observed a car crash and recognized the driver as her neighbor. She pulled over to assist and managed to extract her neighbor from the overturned vehicle. However, another vehicle then struck stationary cars near the scene, causing Daniels to fall from the overpass. Several other individuals assisting at the initial crash site were also injured.
Franchon Williams, a friend who was with Daniels, described the chaotic scene to Fox 8 Live. After Daniels pulled the neighbor from the car, Williams heard that someone had gone over the side of the highway. She later identified Daniels as the victim.
Daniels’ mother, O’Sheenana Daniels, arrived at the scene and heard her daughter call out before succumbing to her injuries. "It's sad to say, but I wish she just never would have helped," the mother stated, expressing regret that her daughter’s attempt to help led to her death.
Daniels was a mother to an adopted son, Noah. She and Williams had been planning to enroll in paramedic school the following week.
Friends memorialized Daniels on a GoFundMe page, writing, “Ka’Sheena died a hero. She put someone else’s life before her own, and her final moments reflected the kind of heart she carried throughout her life.” The page was established to raise funds for funeral expenses.
Authorities stated that the crash is currently under investigation.
