A woman died Saturday morning after jumping from a luxury apartment building in downtown Los Angeles, officials confirmed.

The Los Angeles Fire Department reported receiving a call about a jumper at 8:51 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Grand Avenue. Firefighters and the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene.

Officials attempted to intervene from the building's roof, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The adult woman fell from the building and was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A fire official indicated the jump may have occurred from the 7th floor, though this detail remained unconfirmed.

The Los Angeles Police Department declined to provide further details, citing policy regarding suicides.
