Woman Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle on NSW Highway

A woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle on a highway in New South Wales' Snowy Monaro region. Emergency services responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle on Monaro Highway, approximately 1 kilometer south of Bredbo, around 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

According to a NSW Police spokesperson, the woman, whose identity has not yet been formally released, was believed to be in her 60s. Officers from the Monaro Police District and paramedics from NSW Ambulance attended the scene and provided treatment to the woman, but she was pronounced deceased at the location.

The driver of the vehicle, a 54-year-old man, was uninjured and transported to a hospital for mandatory testing. Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Motorists were advised to avoid the area, and temporary traffic diversions were implemented.

A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
