A woman died after being attacked by an alligator while swimming in the Econlockhatchee River in Seminole County, Florida, on Sunday, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). The incident occurred just north of Orlando.
The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment but succumbed to her injuries. Authorities have stated that efforts to locate and capture the alligator responsible are currently underway.
The FWC issued a statement expressing its condolences to the victim's family and loved ones during this difficult time. This event follows a separate fatal incident in Mexico, where a 28-year-old man was killed by a crocodile two days prior on a beach in Puerto Vallarta.
